Employee anniversary - 50 years of passion for printing
- Category #teamkd
1972: Willy Brandt is German Chancellor, the Renault 5 is fresh on the market - and Gerd Schneider starts his apprenticeship at Krämer Druck in Bernkastel-Kues. Today, he can proudly look back on 50 years in the family business.
What was the world of print shops like in 1972? Gerd Scheider still knows exactly. In addition to machine typesetting, people were still learning manual typesetting back then. From the 1990s onwards, progressive digitalisation changed the everyday lives of printers. A turning point, many say. And what was it like at Krämer Druck?
‘We produced a lot of business stationery back then. And of course a lot of labels too. Overall, when I started, Krämer Druck was a small, regional printing company and not the specialised, large company it is today. However, I think that the positive aspects of the small, regional family business have been preserved. That's something special.’
The trained letterpress printer has experienced not only five decades, but also three generations at Krämer Druck. That sounds like a unique story. But it isn't. Because there are many employees who have been on board not just for years, but for decades. Gerd Schneider was most recently there for the company and his colleagues as an employee in the imprint department. He has been enjoying his well-earned retirement since the beginning of the year.
